When I entered the shelter on the first day, 2 cats immediately caught my eye. Hope & Pie. They both had paralyzed back legs from being hit by a car. I wanted to make it better for them. They are both super affectionate and I hope they will find their forever home soon.

The story of Pie
After a while we found out that Pie had a huge wound from dragging on the sand they were in.
After this incident, we moved Hope to a tiled cabin so that the infections would not have the chance to develop as quickly, as with Pie. You can imagine that if you always drag your foot or leg over the ground, wounds and ulcers are unavoidable. Pie went to the other shelter, where she got the best care to be better soon.

The story of Hope

We kept taking care of Hope. I could see in her eyes that she was unhappy. She lay on the bare ground and had nothing to retreat to. She also had no daytime activities which made her bored.
We made her a pillow with a nice comfortable towel or fleece. Because she could not control her stool, it was dirty every time and we had to change it every morning and evening, that was a lot of laundry haha! But we mentioned to take good care of her.

We also let her out of the cabin. I think she didn't go out a lot earlier for a long time so we gave her some extra comfort. She chilled in the sun and connected with other cats. You could see in here eyes, that she was happy again.

We also gave her a lot of attention because she can't scratch her neck and back by herself. You could see that she was so itchy that she was shaking all her body, it reallt broke my heart to see this. So I had to do something about it. I bought a brush that you can attach to a table so that she could move her neck against it herself. But we also gave her some good rubs on the neck to reduce the itchy feelings.
